Fire extinguishers
Fire extinguishers may be divided into portable fire extinguishers and mobile fire extinguishers, and, according to the type of extinguishing agent, to powder, water and CO2 fire extinguishers and fire extinguishers using clean extinguishing agent. Fire extinguishers are designed to extinguish small or incipient fire.
WHAT IS TESTED:
- Extinguishing capacity
- Operating time, residual weight, operating temperature
- Rated quantity of filling
- Tightness
- Corrosion resistance
- Force required for the release of the safety latch
- Force required to actuate the valve
- Hose destruction
- Vessel test
WHAT IS ASSESSED:
- Accompanying documentation (drawings, nameplate, servicing procedures, etc.)
- Instructions for use
- Marking (obligatory data on the vessel and nameplate)
MOST FREQUENT PROBLEMS:
- Incapacity to extinguish the required size of fire
- Imperfect pressing of the nozzle into the hose
STANDARDS:
- ČSN EN 3-7+A1:7 Portable fire extinguishers. Characteristics, performance requirements and test methods
- ČSN EN 3-8 Portable fire extinguishers. Additional requirements to EN 3-7 for the construction, resistance to pressure and mechanical tests for extinguishers with a maximum allowable pressure equal to or lower than 30 bar
