6 September 2013 In the framework of promotion of trade, investment and strengthening of the Czech-Thai cooperation, on Friday 6 September 2013, a Workshop (Seminar) was held at the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO), focused on investment as well as on business opportunities in Thailand. The Czech government party included Mr. Pavel Kafka, a member of the Confederation of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, and the representatives of the Czech Trade, Czech Invest and of other Czech entities. After the Workshop, the first Meeting of the Joint Czech-Thai Commission on Economic Cooperation was held. SZU was represented by Mr. Michal Dvořáček, its Foreign Cooperation Officer. The first „Joint Commission Meeting“ was honoured, contrary to the established practices, by the presence of the Thai Deputy Prime Minister and concurrently Minister of Foreign Affairs – Mr. Surapong Tovichakchaikul, while the Czech side was represented by Minister of Trade and Industry – Mr. Jiří Cienciala. A common outcome of this plenary meeting was the signing of a Protocol on mutual economic cooperation. It was also important from the point of view of establishing useful personal contacts with representatives of the Thai business community.
