On 1 August 2017, the new Regulation (EU) of the European Parliament and of the Council updating the energy labelling system for products came into force. It replaces Directive 2010/30/EU that was in force until that date.
Changes brought about by the new Regulation
The new Regulation means return to the A – G scale. The now commonly used classification (A+, A++, A+++) will be phased out and the old labels will be replaced by the new ones. Replacement of labels will take place in several phases. The first phase concerns white goods (refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers ...), TV sets, light sources and light fittings. These products have to be “re-labelled“ by 2 November 2019, at the latest. The other products will follow, and the entire process will be concluded in 2030 with the products in area of heating and water heating The objective of this change is improvement of the informative value and making the comparison of products easier for customers.
