Violation of law

• It is a procedure to verify safety of machines by conducting product inspecting & testing ensures whether subjected appliances are complying with relevant safety act’s. (each machine safety regulation)
• If a manufacturer or importer does not complete the Autonomous Safety Check, there shall be a penalty of either below one year’s imprisonment or a fine of below KRW 10 million or may order it to change or destroy
• Submitted documents will be preserved for 2 years.
• Prohibited by customs: Import

KCs-Mark marking

• Size of the Mark is adjustable according to the size of the subject machine of device.
• If required, necessary things can be written additionally around the mark in Korean or in English in order to clarify shape of the Mark.
• Marking shall be made by way of attaching or printing, etc. at the suitable location of the subject machine, device, or container or wrapping paper containing them.
• In principle, the colour of edge and letter of the mark shall be blue and the rest shall be white.
• Materials that may cause injury to the human body or rough surfaced materials shall not be applied when making marks.

SCOPE OF KCS

Safety Certification

It is the system that the Minister of Employment and Labour comprehensively evaluates and tests whether safety performance of the machine or equipment subject to safety certification, and technical capabilities and the product system of a manufacturer meet safety certification standards.

Autonomous Safety Check

It is a system that a person who manufactures or imports the machine or equipment subject to self-safety confirmation confirms that safety performance of the corresponding product meets self-safety standards to report the fact to the Minister of Employment and Labour.

• Food production machine (crushing, mixing and noodle producing machine only)

• Machine tool (lathe, drill, planer and shaper, milling machine only)
• Fixed wood fabricating machine (round saw, plane, router machine, T saw and bevelling machine only)

Autonomous Safety Check (Self-safety Confirmation Reporting System) Scheme is a mandatory certification scheme which permits machinery certified from accepted KOSHA to prevent safety accidents caused by electric shock, mechanical hazards, fire and other hazards or interferences from the machinery.

Autonomous Safety Check Scheme is manufacturer (installed or part of the main structure, including when to change) or the importer or the machine installer about the safety performance of the product, ensure that it will work with voluntary safety standards, to report to the Minister of Employment and Labour system.

“KCs” shall be marked on the machinery or equipment which cleared the Autonomous Safety Check or obtained Safety Certificate.

PROCEDURE FOR KCS

SUBMISSION

To be Submitted to KOSHA^{*Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency}

1. Application ^{*refer to Annex 1} (Korean)
   (Product common name, Model type no., Electric power source (kVA), Signature of Representative of Manufacturer and official seal in use)
2. Certificate for Business Registration, Certificate of All Matters of Corporate Register
3. Risk Evaluation Report (Korean)
   (About the product construction and safety measures taken against possible risks/hazardous situation)
4. User’s Manual (Korean)
5. Electrical Safety Report , Electromagnetic Compatibility Test Report (Korean/ English)
6. Drawing of Marking Plate (Korean)
   (KCs symbol shall be marked on the equipment and mandatory marking items differ from the product category)
7. Product Specifications
   (Photo, Layout drawing, technical features, etc.)

Documents to keep by Manufacturer

1. All the documents defined above (submission to KOSHA)
2. Detail answers of Risk Evaluation Report with related Test reports and technical documents (Electrical diagram, Mechanical drawing, Safety reports, etc.)

Manufacturer shall enclose the certificate issued by KOSHA in a manual or warranty agreement, also shall mark KCs symbol on the equipment in order to prove the successful completion of Autonomous safety check.
